It’s nice to know the who, what, when, where and why of the retreat, so check out all the answers below.
The cost covers housing (shared, single-gender cabins), food (breakfasts, lunches and dinners #nom), fun (parties, ziplines, hot tubs, sports tourneys, etc.), messages, worship, and quiet time. Be sure to bring your own snacks and some cash money for #RetreatSWAG!
What's the schedule?
As a YA family, we will head up to the mountains September 27th-29th for a 3-day, 2-night mountain vacay where we will hear amazing messages, worship with Red Rocks Worship, and escape the craziness of life.
Night one we arrive at Crooked Creek around 6pm (B.Y.O.Dinner), will get settled in our cabins, hang out, have our first message and worship session, then celebrate the weekend with a dance party.
Day two, we eat breakfast, we get our #RetreatSWAG, have breakout sessions (mini-messages with some discussion time), break for lunch, sports tourneys (volleyball, basketball) and free time, gather for dinner, and we end the night with another message and worship session.
The final day, we wake up, grab breakfast, clean up, and have our last session before heading home.
How do we get there?
There are just as many parking spots up there as we have a Lakewood; aka it's limited. So, find your friends and carpool! If you're new to YA and/or car-less, we also have a shuttle bus option at registration (spots are limited.)
What if I’m not able to afford the cost?
We more than understand the need for a scholarship. If you could, please fill out our 2019 Retreat Scholarship Request, and when a full or partial scholarship becomes available, we will reach out and get you your ticket!
What should I pack?
We will be up in the mountains in the middle of fall, here is a general list of what would be good to bring!
Jackets (trendier the better)
Swimsuits (modest is hottest)
Leggings/athletic wear (again, modest is hottest)
Water bottle (reduce, reuse, recycle)
Sunscreen (and/or Aloe if you know you’re gonna burn)
Raincoat/umbrella (cause it’s Colorado)
Snacks on snacks on snacks
Money for #RetreatSWAG
Are animals allowed?
Although we personally love fur babies (except cats), the venue does not allow for animals up at the retreat. If you have a need for a service animal, please reach out to us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will see how we can best accommodate your needs.
We are honored and excited to announce that we will be bringing out Doug Wekenman for this year's retreat!
Doug Wekenman has been at Red Rocks Church since 2014 and spent four years with the Young Adult Ministry. In 2018, he moved to Texas with his family and friends to start Red Rocks Austin and has been leading that ever since. He and his amazing wife, Samantha, have the cutest kid in the world, Will-the-Thrill, and the most energetic dog in the world, Luna. The YA Retreat has a special place in his heart, and he's ready to bring the 🔥🔥🔥 this year, so don't miss out!
Can I pick my roommates?
Yes! We want you all to have the best time growing with your community. At checkout, you’ll be able to put the name of someone you want to room with and we will try our best to make sure you and all your friends are staying together.
If you’re new and don’t have anyone to put down, don’t stress! We will get you in a room with amazing people and they will become your BFFs forever.
Will I find my future spouse at retreat?
Although we cannot guarantee that you may find your future Mr or Mrs, we cannot say no. Come dressed to impress, get ready to meet new people, and, ultimately, just be yourself!
What if I have food allergies?
If you are allergic to any foods, there is an area to make note of it on the registration form. This is for legit food allergies, not just for personal preference. We suggest bringing additional snacks and meals that meet your dietary needs. We don’t want anyone getting hangry up at retreat…
What if I buy my ticket but then I can’t make it to retreat?
We’re bummed to hear that you won’t be able to make it to The 2019 Young Adult Retreat! Unfortunately, we are not able to give refunds, but there are a couple of options you can pursue; if you would like, we can go ahead and donate it to someone in need of a scholarship, or, if you know of someone you would like to give/sell your ticket to, send us their name and email and we will transfer the ticket to them. Email us at email@example.com and we will get you all squared away!
